The Challenge

For over 50 years WAS Germany has been the supplier for gastronomy, hotel and kitchen supplies. Currently in its second generation, today the owner-managed family business from Hamburg supplies its customers worldwide with over 7,000 products and the best possible service. Its main sales channel is still the catalogue, currently in 3 languages. An essential element of WAS’ future strategy is the development of new markets and the associated reorganization and expansion of the marketing and sales channels.

To create the conditions for this, a new IT solution had to be found – a centralized scalable system for efficient and automated product and marketing communication as well as a partner who could support WAS in the roll out, with the content creation and use of existing and new channels. The requirements for the management of these processes require close cooperation with the customer and the numerous other stakeholders, a sophisticated process landscape and an intelligent IT head system.

The Solution

In only 9 months with the help of Meyle+Müller and apollon, WAS has built up a centralised PIM system based on the software suite OnlineMediaNet. An essential part of the system solution was the interface to the new ERP system (MS Dynamics). In addition, all product data was reconfigured and imported into OMN – and at the same time localized and prepared for many new markets outside of Europe and South America. Parallel to this M+M organized the photography of the new products as well as the translation of the 19 languages, and the conception and subsequent automated creation of the new catalogue including the complete print production. With the roll out of the new online shop, realized by apollon using Shopware, WAS can take another significant step forward this year in serving its new customers just as well as its existing customers and in keeping with the spirit of its slogan “WHERE SERVICE BEGINS”.
